Ask a Confucian Philosopher is an advice column -inspired by Dear Abby–  which answers questions about day to day life and relationships as I imagine a modern  Confucian Philosopher might.

I will answer 1 question a week and keep the answers under 1000 words. It may take a while for me to get to your question, and may in fact, never get to.

I have two goals for this advice column.

  1. Provide people with Confucian advice they would not otherwise have easy access to, because at least so far as I am aware, there is no blog currently answering questions about daily modern life and relationships with Confucian philosophy.
  2. Improve my understanding and practice of Confucianism by having to clearly articulate on a regular basis how Confucianism can practically and positively play a role in others modern day to day life, relationships, and society.

Finally, I do not claim to be an expert in life or Confucianism. Furthermore,  I’m certain that my understanding of Confucianism will change as I learn more about this rich, complex and practical 2500 year long philosophical tradition. Consider Ask A Confucian Philosopher an evolving guide to the practical Confucianism for the 21st century.
